The Green Cab is in the running to scoop the Emerging Tourism Entrepreneur of the Year Award
Cape Town Routes Unlimited is excited and fully supports environmentally friendly tourism transport service, The Green Cab, in its bid to scoop the Emerging Tourism Entrepreneur of the Year Award (ETEYA).
The Green Cab was announced as the Western Cape’s provincial finalist during World Tourism Day celebrations in Limpopo on Monday, 27 September 2010. The cab service, which co-founder, Lynne Maggott, operates with three other women, is run on bio-diesel or liquefied petroleum which has 85% less ozone depleting potential and emits 10% less carbon dioxide than petrol. This doesn’t make a trip with them carbon-free but they are so serious about helping to slow global warming that they have ensured that their taxis are carbon neutral. This is done by paying compensation towards planting trees to offset their portion of environmental damage done by daily driving.
